Michelle Peacock is a Family Nurse Practitioner at the Raymond G. Murphy Veterans Administration Medical Center in the Ambulatory Care Clinic. She was awarded Albuquerque Business Weekly’s Top 40 Young Professionals under 40 and was honored at the White House as a Champion of Change for Women Veterans in 2013. Recently she was awarded The District 5 Outstanding Citizen Award. Michelle is a member of the Women Veterans of New Mexico and American Women Veterans, a national organization that works in advocacy on behalf of service women, veterans, and their families. She is a New Mexico Emerge graduate, which is a group dedicated to changing the face of New Mexico politics by identifying, training and encouraging women to seek higher office.
Currently, Michelle is the president of the Board for Cuidando Los Niños (CLNKids) and serves on the Executive, Finance and Advocacy committees. CLNkids is an organization committed to ending child homelessness in our local community. Michelle works with legislators and local community members and educates them on homelessness and its far-reaching effects (including health and educational disparities and the rise of violence and PTSD) and works toward ending homelessness. She has worked to raise tens of thousands of dollars from various community and national agencies for grants and scholarships. These funds have helped to develop education programs for parents. Michelle has negotiated partnerships within the Albuquerque community to provide health care and immunizations to the children and family members in the CLNKids program.
As a veteran, Michelle understands the experiences of fellow soldiers as they transition from active duty to the civilian sector.
